Samuel Edem-Maitum is the Credit Director at Uganda Development Bank limited. He joined in October 2019 and brings with him over 15 years of Banking experience. He is a seasoned risk professional with proven skill and knowledge in Finance, Operational Risk, Strategic Planning, Data Analytics, Credit Risk and Project management.
Prior to joining UDBL, Samuel worked with Top Tier Commercial Banks in various capacities from heading Risk Management Functions, Risk Measurement, Analytics, Operational Risk Management, Business Turnaround/Work Out across a portfolio of diverse clients (Small, Medium Enterprise, Corporate and Investment Banking) in Uganda and Mozambique.
He has overseen rehabilitation of a Portfolio of UGX 60 Billion, 68% reduction (53b) in impaired debt. He has actively participated/spearheaded development, review and embedment of supporting frameworks, policies and standards to manage the organizations’ principal risks. As a business enabler, Samuel is passionate about providing sound advice, identifying opportunities and deepening client relationships with a view to helping businesses achieve their goals in the right way. Samuel has used his experiences drive strategy in partnership with his colleagues resulting in consistent realization of business objectives.
Samuel holds a Master of Science in Accounting and Finance, a Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences along with a Credit Skills Development certification accredited by the Chartered Institute of Bankers in Scotland, a Project Management in Controlled Environments (PRINCE2) certification as well as in Strategic Planning and Information Technology.
