Bukanga Dairy Farmers Cooperative Society – Isingiro

In 2009, Bukanga Dairy Cooperative began with 30 farmers who chose cooperation over competition. They understood something powerful: when farmers move together, they move further.

Today, they are 300 strong, united across four branches; sharing knowledge, pooling resources, and building a future that would have been difficult to achieve alone.

With financing support from Uganda Development Bank, the cooperative secured a loan facility and extended it to their members. Together, they cleared bush, constructed valley dams to address water scarcity, purchased quality heifers, and invested in a milk cooler to preserve value and reduce losses. Through the cooperative, farmers also accessed seminars and partnerships that introduced new skills and better farming practices.

One farmer in Isingiro who once struggled with water now has a permanent dam on his land; not because he stood alone, but because he stood with others.

That is the power of cooperation.

Families earn more. Young people find employment. Communities stabilise. Local economies grow. When people come together with a shared vision, and access the right financing, transformation follows. If you are ready to grow your enterprise through collective strength, the opportunity to access development financing is here.

We welcome enterprises and SMEs to explore how our patient and affordable capital can support their growth journey.
